Each of UCSC’s 10 residential colleges offers its own core course to first-year students. The core course helps students make the leap from high school to college learning practices in ways that maximize access, promote equity, and make the hidden curriculum visible. The core course makes space for the voices and perspectives of future UCSC changemakers through seminar-style discussion practices, sustained inquiry with a group of close collaborators, and intentional approaches to the diverse assets and experiences of the student community.
