Alix MacDonald

Graduate Pedagogy Fellow in Psychology (2023)

Alix MacDonald is a second-year Ph.D. student in Social Psychology in the Community Psychology Research and Action Team lab, working with Gina Langhout. Her research interests are centered on how students navigate learning about whiteness, racism, and settler colonialism in multiethnic spaces. She is particularly curious about how emotions play a pivotal role in facilitating critical consciousness for White students, while also acting as a tool to evade or disengage from antiracism and racial justice. She is deeply committed to antiracism in her teaching practices, and looks forward to building stronger skills in inclusive pedagogical strategies.
