CITL Faculty Fellow (2017–18)
Amanda M. Smith is Assistant Professor of Literature specializing in Latin American literature and cultural studies. During her graduate work at Michigan State University, she received an Outstanding Spanish Teaching Assistant Award and was named by undergraduate students as a Recognized Learning Leader. Before that, as a secondary teacher, she received the James Irzyk Excellence in Teaching Award from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut and an “Above and Beyond” Award from the Oscoda Area School District in Michigan. As a CITL Faculty Fellow, she kick-started the creation of a campus-wide digital archive of teaching demos and discussions to showcase innovative teaching and learning happening at UC Santa Cruz.
