Dana-Lis Bittner (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in Cognitive Psychology. Working in the UCSC Memory Lab, her research focuses on why and how people search for information online, as well as the behavioral, cognitive, and metacognitive consequences of interacting with the Internet. In her teaching appointments, Dana-Lis is particularly enthusiastic about how laboratory research findings on effective learning can best be translated into effective learning in classroom settings. As a Graduate Pedagogy Fellow, she is excited to collaborate with a larger teaching community on honing effective teaching and mentoring practices, designing flexible active learning activities, and constructing assessment frameworks that are reflective of student’s durable learning and deep understanding.
