Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz is a Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Since joining the UC Santa Cruz faculty in 2007, Ramirez-Ruiz has won a number of awards for his teaching and mentoring including the Chancellor’s Achievement Awards for Diversity, the Ron Ruby Award for Teaching Excellence, the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Radcliffe Fellowship at Harvard, and the Edward A. Bouchet Award from the American Physical Society. As a CITL Senior Faculty Fellow in 2019-20, he plans to build a program aimed at supporting faculty of color at UC Santa Cruz.
