James Read

James Read is a fifth-year PhD candidate in philosophy. He has a combined four years of TAing and GSI experience, and has an interest in fostering student engagement and active learning in the classroom. In addition to his university teaching experience, he has worked closely with UCSC’s Center for Public Philosophy coaching high school ethics bowl, teaching P4C (Philosophy for Children), and conducting research for “TEQ Deck”, a card-based learning aid. He is excited to continue to explore new ways of innovating in teaching and learning, and is looking forward to sharing perspectives across disciplines with the 2024 Graduate Pedagogy Fellows.
