J. Bettie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology where her teaching and research centers on feminist, queer, and cultural theory; queer of color critique; erotic labor and sexual commerce; labor and education; and qualitative/interpretive methodologies. She is affiliated with Feminist Studies, Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, and Latin American and Latino Studies.
