Levi Matsushima

Levi is a PhD candidate in the Chemistry and Biochemistry department. Here at UC Santa Cruz, he has simultaneously taken classes and taught classes offered in the Chemistry department, affording him exposure to a diverse cross-section of teaching styles–this winter quarter (2024) will mark his 13th quarter teaching. Through the years, he has focused classroom planning around connecting with his students, but more importantly facilitating them to engage with each other in a peer learning environment. During this fellowship he is dedicating his time towards developing a workshop that focuses on TAs’ ability to efficiently build lesson plans that include interactive components as well as material reinforcement.
