Lizett Gonzalez Carreon

Graduate Pedagogy Fellow in Microbiology & Environmental Toxicology (2023)

Lizett J. Gonzalez Carreon is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Microbiology and Environmental Toxicology department. Lizett received her B.S. in Biology at California State University, San Bernardino. Her research at UCSC focuses on understanding the regulation of Vibrio cholerae biofilm formation. Lizett has participated in METX, MINT, and women of color programs. As a Graduate Pedagogy Fellow, she hopes to move the field of microbiology to be inclusive and equitable for first-generation Latinx students. Lizett will incorporate peer-reviewed DEI principles into the METX department to enhance the supportive environment for the next generation of microbiologists and toxicologists.
