Madelyn Broome

Graduate Pedagogy Fellow in Astronomy & Astrophysics (2023)

Madelyn Broome is a third-year Cota Robles Fellow in the Astronomy & Astrophysics department working on exoplanet theory with Professor Ruth Murray-Clay. Her lifelong commitment to excite, engage, and elevate historically-excluded learners in STEM takes many forms: public outreach, designing research-based inclusive pedagogy, accessible science writing, mentoring young women, encouraging other Native American youth in STEM, and more. She is looking forward to refining the curriculum she designed for the Astro department’s two-quarter Graduate Research Mentoring course while she serves as companion undergraduate research course’s TA. She is delighted at the chance to challenge and grow her praxis alongside a community of like-valued educators.
