Matthew Kogan

Matthew Kogan is a 3rd year PhD student in Linguistics, who studies the cognitive systems that subserve language processing and comprehension. His teaching strategies incorporate evidence-based, active learning techniques that aim to foster student engagement and excitement in the classroom. He has previously been a member of EquiL, a Linguistic department working group focusing on building equity minded practices in Linguistics. He is also an active member of Nido de Lenguas, a collaboration between linguists at UCSC and a local non-profit Senderos, who work to revitalize and celebrate indigenous languages spoken in Oaxaca and diaspora communities in the Bay area.
