Melissa Sanders-Self is a Continuing Lecturer in Literature/Creative Writing, and a College One instructor at Kresge and Porter. She received the UC Santa Cruz Excellence in Teaching Award in 2016 and the Kresge Faculty Commendation Award in 2019. Her most recent publication is in the June 2019 issue of The Sun literary magazine. As a CITL Faculty Fellow, she hopes to work on issues of transitioning from Core to College One, achieving the CEP learning outcomes in ways that also promote mental health and resilience for students and faculty at UCSC.
