Stefania Cotei

Stefania Cotei is a PhD student in the History of Consciousness program, where she investigates how imperial legacies, nationalist ideologies, and archival practices in Eastern Europe intersect to erase marginalized histories, particularly Romani slavery, while uncovering subversive practices of resistance through interdisciplinary methodologies. As an educator, she draws on her experiences as a high school teacher, Fulbright Fellow, and Graduate Student Instructor to foster equitable and inclusive learning environments. Inspired by Paulo Freire’s pedagogy, she emphasizes dialogue, critical reflection, and the integration of academic theories with lived experiences in her teaching.
