Equity-Minded
Mentoring
for Postdocs
About the Program
Are you a postdoc in a STEM field who is interested in developing equitable mentorship skills to build inclusive, supportive research and learning environments?
Join TLC and your postdoc peers for a series of virtual summer workshops on equity-minded mentorship to develop actionable strategies and a deeper knowledge of the recent research on STEM mentoring.
We will explore and practice strategies known from research to support underrepresented students in STEM, particularly those from racially minoritized groups, including:
- establishing clear expectations for the mentoring relationship;
- communicating effectively and with attention to how different life experiences, identities, and positions of power shape participation in and experiences in STEM fields;
- promoting students’ sense of belonging and science identities;
- developing an equity-minded mentoring philosophy;
- and more
At the end of the program, you will receive a certificate of completion, issued by the TLC, to indicate your demonstrated commitment to equitable mentorship practices in STEM.
